Tory gain. Infact most of the naffing county is a rather alarming shade of blue. However, national stuff aside in this ward and those nearby it is fairly easy to understand why an angry socialist area is looking like Cameron’s fuckbuddy.
Firstly the incumbent, who was labour, was a big personality who rather inconsiderately upped and died a few months back. The person they chose to field in his stead is young and clearly a career politician. I mentioned before my uncomfortableness with the career politic, well my cynicism is nowt. Welcome to the most cynical county (after Yorkshire). Youth isn’t a winning trait about these parts.
The LibDems never were going to win given that in the neighbouring county they’ve been modelling themselves on Al Capone, and the county boundries up this end of the county are so criss crossy that neighbours are in two different wards and the local party groups are often the same. So the misbehaving of councillors in the next county not only makes news in our papers (of which there are many), but is something that has an impact.
