Hola!
I need some input so have a quick poll for you. I really really would appreciate feedback as the answers will probably determine what technical jiggery pokery I utilise, and I know some regular readers have some ‘issues’ with particular software so I need to know what isn’t going to totally piss you all off (regular and non-regular). Please do answer.
Finally I have a legitimate reason for the tartan skirt and long white socks*, I’m off to school once again. Well college. Actual school would be a bit odd. I had few cultural references in common with people who actually were my age.
So anyways off to be educated once more, I had my second interview today and providing I can find all my GCSE certificates* I will be starting in September. Awooga.
A couple of weeks ago I had a very fun photo session with Photography student Helen Lambert, she’s currently living up here but from September will be at uni in the leafy suburbs* of London.
Below are a couple of the photos, for those who don’t want (or care) to know what I look like, look away now.
Inspired by someone else’s meme-ing (which has now vanished so I won’t link just incase there’s a specific reason she’s deleted). I toddled over to Sunday Stealing and stole an older one.
I’m currently looking for a shoe rack to sit in the kitchen (to prevent further instances of gifts in shoes), and have been browsing the Ah-Goose* website and looking at the reviews. On one shoe rack two separate women suggest that it was tricky because they were women: “Not easy for a female who thought it only required a screwdriver” said one, and “from a female point of view, it seemed a bit too much for me to tackle” was the other’s review.
Why is being female relevant to assuming that you need only one screwdriver? Surely, that is more naive faith in the quality of Argos’s workmanship and a lacking tool kit. And why is it inherently trickier from a “female point of view”? Are you attempting to hold the screwdriver with your vagina?
The more other parents I come across the less I like us as a collective. I understand the urge to protect your young over anyone or anything else, but must it come complete with a total disregard for other human beings? Equally did I miss the special “how to park so no-one else can get out of their car” class? Or its follow up “fill up your car with moronic signs about who is ‘on board’ to perpetuate some idiotic myth that it makes others drive with more care whilst you don’t”? If I could avoid leaving the house during any school holiday I would. The children I can take, the adults less so.
Tomorrow is World Autism Awareness Day*, and not a day too soon. Though I have no doubt it will bring out plenty of anti-vaccination loons folk, it does at least bring the promise of more accurate information about ASD. Despite recent fiction, and non fiction, accounts of ASD topping bestsellers still parents/carers/PAs of people with an ASD find it necessary to explain to the nosey idiots who assume bad behaviour. Obviously no amount of information and awareness is going to prevent the opinions of that oh-so-delightful variety of person who thinks disabled people should be neither seen nor heard, but it might help those who are just ignorant.*
